Awakening is not a privilege

Illumination · Branch VII · Awakening and the life after

“This awakening does not come to the chosen; it comes to those who are ready.”From El refugio del corazón

For a long time I kept my mystical experiences to myself. I considered them very intimate, and I also feared that nobody would be able to understand them.

If I share them today, it is not out of vanity. It is to show you that this possibility, just as it was waiting for me, is waiting for you. I am not trying to convince you or make you a follower of any kind of philosophy. I only invite you to inquire, and to want to experience the Divinity in you, through yourself and not through me.

An ordinary person

I say this with humility of heart: I am an ordinary person. I was born in Colombia, into a middle-class family, with all the limitations and conflicts typical of modern families. If someone like that has been able to live these experiences, it shows that the experience of awakening is not exclusive to yogis, monks or monastics. That is why I am convinced that awakening is possible for anyone who sincerely wants to walk the path of the soul.

My life has been an astonishing journey on which the Divinity has guided me, from my painful childhood to the joy of my state of unity. Each of my experiences has had a sacred purpose, and today, looking back, I feel deeply grateful. I thank the Father for giving me the tools I needed to take on the process of my life, and for the help He gave me through the unexpected twists and turns of existence.

The intimate contacts I have had with the Divinity may have been the fruit of my devotion to this spiritual process. That is why I say it again: everything that has been possible for me is also possible for you. And I tell you with certainty: only through innocence and freedom from ideas will you realize who you really are.

In Consciousness, there is no difference at all between you and me, because God does not mutate or change in any way: just as He is in you, He is in me. The sun shines for everyone.

What does it mean to be ready?

Being ready is standing in that truth, living it and recognizing it. All the searching and all the merit must turn into the lived experience in which you favor presence, where there is only silence. How are you going to search for what you already are?

The Divinity is in everything and everyone, and there are no more powerful versions of it in anything or anyone. The only difference is that some souls are more merged with that presence than others, and that happens because they have chosen to surrender in devotion.

In reality we are not evolving, as if we were humans moving toward the spiritual. We are remembering what we are: pure consciousness that has descended to this physical plane to have this human experience. Remember who you are, and you will realize that you are part of the whole, in unity.

Trust that you already are, even if billions of souls around you tell you it isn’t true and push you to believe that your reality is only this materiality you live in. The truth is liberating and sublime: God and you are one.

No one is blocking your way

No one is putting an obstacle in the way of your awakening. What are you waiting to happen? If you already notice that you are alive, be loyal, and relate to that which is noticing. Break off your relationship with your mind, which is what tells you that you lack something or need something in order to realize that you already are.

If you doubt what I am telling you, ask yourself this: Could it be possible that you have never experienced anything like this because you yourself keep canceling that possibility out? If you take one step toward the light, the light will take a hundred steps toward you.

Beware, though, of spiritual vanity. Many people who believe they have achieved a higher spiritual development tell God they love Him in the silence of their meditation, and then, once they come out, offend and disregard His work. In the end, the only muscle they have developed is that of pride and vanity.

Act, act, act

What is written may be false or true. Who really knows? Only those who make lived experience their way of walking the invisible paths of Being.

You may not believe a single word. If you at least give me the benefit of the doubt, let God touch your heart at any given time. All you need is to be present and available to Him.

If I had to leave you just one piece of advice, it would be this: always seek good, transparent company. Be a fervent follower of the truth. Be persevering and constant in whatever practices you decide to do, and give yourself as much time as you need to go deeper into them.

And never expect results: act, act, act. Stay present, every day and at every moment. It brings immense riches to the soul.

Surrender to the benevolent, compassionate love of the Divinity, for it is the Divinity itself that lives you. Strip away all the ideas that keep you from living in this fullness, and work at it: make every effort to draw back the veils that cloud your sight, clean up the dirt you swept under the rug, and set yourself free. That is how I live it: in every instant of my day-to-day life I favor my presence, and I live and enjoy each moment in silence, because it is through silence that we can listen.

Like the petals of a rose

What humanity needs is to awaken to this Consciousness. As more people do, there will be more testimonies of what it means, and that will encourage others to follow this process as well. We are on a triumphant exodus from the mind to the heart.

May your heart and your mind always be open, like the petals of a rose, to receive the rain, the warm rays of the sun or the unexpected visit of a hummingbird. Don’t dismiss or condemn anything just because it does not meet the demands of your intellect. This is only the beginning, and it is available for you too.
