Monodualism: one with everything, and God is God

Illumination · Branch VI · The heart

“We are part of Divinity, but we are not Divinity.”From Devoción

One day, in an indeterminate place and moment, Time and Space met. They had always known each other and had shared everything, until one intense instant revealed to them what they felt for each other. Both were infinite and intangible, and they wanted to live a deep romance.

They were in love and had given themselves to each other, and yet they felt there was something each one wanted to impose on the other. Doubts and fears assailed them. They considered the idea of separating, but they understood it would never be possible. There was something they would have to give up for their love to fully blossom.

Then Space said to its beloved: “Our love will only be possible if we surrender our own essence.” Time, surprised, answered: “If we do, we will be left suspended in the eternal.” “And we will be fused into the nothingness of our love, into presence alone,” Space replied.

In that moment they were left suspended in pure intelligence, in the Consciousness that knows and does everything, where there is no thought, only an eternal and full existence. There they are one, and they coexist in everything.

A paradox with a name

In my books I have often spoken to you of the divine romance between the spirit and the Being. Our bond with Divinity arises from a paradox I have dared to name monodualism. Mono, because it acknowledges the innate Being within you as One. Dual, because it is that mysterious relationship that provides the I Am.

Many people think God is found in a temple, but the true temple of God is our own body. That is why, when I speak of monodualism, I mean that we are One and that, at the same time, we are in relationship, in communion, with the Eternal Father-Mother.

Everything exists in Him, and that is why we are of His essence. In monodualism we recognize the singularity of our existence and, at the same time, our duality with Divinity, as we hold a relationship with it. But we also understand that there is only one universal and magnificent Being, the Divine Consciousness that sustains everything. It is understanding that we are part of something greater, something that also allows us to realize that this is so.

There is no other being

All the beings we interact with are our extension. There is no other being but the universal Consciousness. He is the absolute whole: He has no origin, no beginning and no end; He has always existed. And if we have been made in His image, we too have always existed. Therefore, we have no end either.

If this understanding stays in the mind, it is reduced to a mere concept, because the mind is finite and linear. It is about embracing it in the heart.

The spirit of life is aware of what it is, and it dwells within us. This Being, the universal Father, is the true essence of who we are. When we live in this relationship, the idea of existing outside of it becomes more and more absurd. By awakening to our own essence and reestablishing this divine relationship with the Father-Mother, we will be able to transform the root of all suffering.

His presence

Now then, reaffirming that you are that Consciousness does not turn you into God, but into His presence. And even if you are able to seize it, you cannot claim it as your own. The spirit is not yours; Consciousness is absolute and is in everything.

In one of my books I said it in a very short sentence: “One is God, but God is God.” In essence, you are part of that Universal Spirit, and He manifests Himself through you as you are now; but from here, your perception is limited. You can also put it this way: the Father and you are one, but the Father is the Father and you are you. Although it sounds like a tongue twister, you will understand it eventually.

You will never grow great enough to say you are God, because He is far beyond that. We were made in the image and likeness of God, and yet He exists, exalted and pure. The spiritual Father-Mother is that which is supreme, manifested as us, personalizing His impersonality. Although God is impersonal, He can be personified in whatever way you need, so that you have a way to relate to Him. That does not make Him limited; quite the opposite: He is the existence of all possibilities at once.

Unity without devotion remains incomplete

This realization leads you to the awareness that you are one with everything, and that everything is also God’s Consciousness. There are beings who reached the feeling of being one with everything, but did not understand that this same everything is God. That is why they do not live the devotional process of the I Am: they do not know that it is the only way to dissolve into what lies in the depths.

Although you understand that you are one with everything around you, there needs to be a distinction of God in that presence, one that allows you to see the absolute. Our great test as humans is to relate to Him. A spirituality that ignores devotion leaves the soul without the possibility of growing in the love of its true essence.

Connecting with this mystery does not require exercising the mind. It requires being present, in a state of devotion, and simply surrendering to the Being from whose dream we are created. It is as if you were sinking into a bottomless well and surrendering yourself to the essence of who you are.

You are not alone

I know from my own experience that this process is not easy, but Divinity has been on my path. I opened my spiritual life to this relationship with God by living monodualism: although you are one with everything, God is God and He is always there. He can take on a personal form to give you light, hope and wisdom. He will show you what you need to heal in your life so that you can work on it, and so you will begin a life in which you know you are not alone.

Realize that there is no little you wanting to become a great yogi, but only one God, and that your life belongs to Him. It is He Himself living this life.

Now you will live knowing that there is a higher being, a Father and a Mother who are sheltering and guiding you. Divinity is being your Being, and it is with you always. I invite you to build a true relationship with it, understanding that it is everything to your soul.
